March 27, 2023 — As the nation marks March as Brain Injury Awareness Month, Credence is proud to share progress in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of traumatic brain injury (TBI). According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) more than 450,000 U.S. military personnel were diagnosed with a TBI between 2000 and 2021.
The Department of Defense considers TBI “one of the invisible wounds of war” and thus established the National Intrepid Center of Excellence (NICoE) in 2010 to further its understanding of this condition. Through our work at NICoE, Credence provides clinical research and operations support, program management, and strategic planning that enables NICoE to improve outcomes for veterans who experience traumatic brain injuries.
For the last 12 years, the Credence team has helped NICoE define and implement its strategy, optimize clinical and patient care processes, and streamline tasks. Credence has also supported NICoE in managing its research aims, which will ultimately impact the future of care for patients and advance understanding of traumatic brain injury.
Credence is also supporting several innovative initiatives at NICoE, including the Brain Fitness Center, the use of virtual reality and other technologies, art therapy, the Computer Assisted Rehabilitation Environment, and an intensive outpatient program for patients and their families. Because traumatic brain injuries affect both mental and physical health, NICoE provides a variety of care and therapeutic options and uses a range of techniques to ensure high quality patient care.
As an experienced supporter of many health-focused programs, Credence is proud to apply our skills and expertise in helping NICoE provide the highest possible standard of care and research for those with traumatic brain injuries.
